Converting a former supermarket into a sports arena presented a dual challenge: design and durability. The space needed to feel inviting and upmarket, somewhere people genuinely wanted to play, bring their children, and spend time with friends and family. At the same time, it had to perform as a working indoor sports facility used every day.

That practical reality shaped key decisions. Material and colour choices had to account for cleanliness and longevity, standing up to constant use while still feeling modern and considered. The design also needed to resolve a wide range of functional requirements, from lighting and wayfinding to party zones and branding, within a controlled budget.

The objective was to create a space that was inviting, modern and welcoming. The arena needed to feel upmarket and intentional, yet every decision around lighting, furniture, signage and finishes had to be made strategically without compromising the quality.

A premium feel, achieved through smart, deliberate choices.

Marshmallow Projects developed a complete interior design that balanced atmosphere, function and durability across every element of the space.

A modern, durable colour scheme. Magic Noir walls form the foundation of the palette, giving the arena a modern, upmarket feel while suiting the demands of a high-traffic environment. Dado rails were introduced to create separation of space and add definition and detail to the large interior.

Branded, illuminated wayfinding. Multiple indoor illuminated signs, finished with a green LED halo light to represent the Action Sports brand, guide visitors through the facility while reinforcing brand identity. A cladded kiosk anchors the space and contributes to the polished, considered aesthetic.

Lighting designed for comfort and clarity. A varied lighting scheme ensures the arena is well lit and comfortable throughout, supporting both gameplay and the spectator experience while contributing to the overall sense of quality.

Practical, comfortable furniture. Spectator seating was selected with both comfort and longevity in mind, using grey poly-plastic furniture that is comfortable to use, easy to clean, and durable enough for daily high-use conditions.

Defined zones for families and events. The layout incorporates dedicated party room zones and clear branding opportunities, making the arena suitable for families, group bookings and events as well as everyday play.
